It could be worse! |
11月13日 Things that suck about SingaporeThings that suck about Singapore:
1. The weather - I don't mind the heat, I don't mind the humidity (I lived in Shanghai, so like totally bring it on), but where the f*&k are the seasons???? How can you live this way????
2. The public transport system - HELLO??? it takes me just as long to get from Cass in Moorgate to West Hampstead in zone 2 as it does from Millenia Tower to Kim Keat Road??? And there isn't even a direct line (subway or bus)!!!
3. The food - could you have any more soya sauce/duck soy/dark soy/chil soy??? Have you heard of vinegar??? And what is up with the fried food, why do you HAVE to have oil injected into your food??? and Chicken Rice is good and all, but it ain't the "wheel"!
4. The local news channel - how to say CCTV9 in Singlish? Channel News Asia LAH
5. The language - Singlish is NOT a language, sorry... It's broken English, with Chinese/Malay grammer+slang...
6. There's more, but I just can't think of it (sidewalks being on the same level as the roads, and being flooded when it rains, the locals looking down on Mainlanders, the total lack of creativity in the City....)
Things that are awesome about Singapore:
1. It's not London
7月27日 Sin Sin SingaporeLuckily I've never got to experiance the "dark side" of Shanghai, but working in Singapore, especially working in the shipping industry (the sleaziest industry) you def get to do it all...
KTV (not the kind with free all you can eat buffet) - done it. Hated it. Really feel sorry for the girls who work there... It's like prostitution, isn't it? I guess it's a job. Not planning to go again, EVER!
Orchard Tower - Done it. I was HELLA surprised that it's the same place where I bought my TV and sound system at. I seriously didn't realize that it was actually the same place. So this so called "Four Floor of Whores" totally confused me - it seems that some of the girls might not be originally designed as girls. Again not planning to go again. Argh....
Geylang - Not yet, probably will be taken to see the "sights". I'm actually more interested in checking out the food over there.
Conclusion: Not built for this stuff...

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone and she's always gone too long anytime she goes away. Wonder this time where she's gone, wonder if she's gone to stay Ain't no sunshine when she's gone and this house just ain't no home anytime she goes away. And I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know Hey, I ought to leave the young thing alone, but ain't no sunshine when she's gone, ain't no sunshine when she's gone, only darkness everyday. Ain't no sunshine when she's gone, and this house just ain't no home anytime she goes away. Anytime she goes away. Anytime she goes away. Anytime she goes away. Anytime she goes away. -- Bill Withers I miss you honey! April is just soooo far away from now... 12月15日 Just some thingsOk so after a hard work-day or work-week, some people feel that it is best to go out with friends, go clubbing, drink up, screw up your liver, mass up your sleeping patterns, and eventually wake up hang-overed with a transvestite hooker (or pregnant).... For me the most logical thing to do after an exhausting day at work, would be to go home, and rest... Yeah, ok, I'm a geek, I know.... but still.... it just makes sooooo much sense, to rest when you are tired... I was also thinking about why do Westerners usually do not take their shoes off when they come in home, and Asians usually do... There could be a couple of reasons: 1. Streets on the west are not as dirty 2. We don't usually like to step into shit 3. We are not lazy to keep our house clean 4. We don't mind dirt 5. We have carpets, they hide the stains and dirty pretty nicely 6. We are afraid that if we'd take off our shoes and leave them outside the door someone would steal them Still getting used to the Singapore set of mind, what I've learned so far is: 1. You can't sell/buy gum, but you can spit and throw garbage where ever you want 2. You can NEVER find a taxi when you really need it 3. When you set a time to meet with some one, minus 20 minutes waiting for a taxi or a bus, and add 45 minutes for being politely late (or on Singapore time). 4. Singapore traffic jam is like Shanghai 7am traffic, kinda annoying, but seriously, it ain't no traffic jam 5. Do not eat curry in the local Indian restaurant when it's close to the closing time, and it doesn't seem like anyone else is having it 6. Things are cheap only when you don't expect them to be, otherwise they are expensive (if that makes sense) |
